HOW TO COPE WITH THE THREAT OF LOSING YOUR HOME
Losing a home is a difficult and sad situation. The first thing you should do is not blame yourself or your spouse. This is the wrong approach in dealing with your current situation. Rely on your strength. If you are a person of faith, you should immediately seek the guidance of your church, your pastor and your church members. Remember this situation, if handled correctly, can be temporary. Do not panic, your faith will see you through this.
BEWARE OF MORTGAGE SCAMS
Only respond to your lender. Do not sign over the deed to your home without your lender’s approval. Only deal with your lender and destroy any advertisement received in the mail stating that your debt will be forgiven. This is a scam.

If you are feeling despondent, anxious, and you cannot sleep, immediately seek mental health counseling or talk to your doctor. If you do not have health insurance, contact your city, county or state mental health services department. You can easily fi nd this information by calling your local government. If you are unable to fi nd any help, please contact the National Black Church Initiative and we will provide you with all the essential information.
